'Alice in Wonderland' Auction Benefits Oakland Library

Items in the silent auction include an elaborate Victorian dollhouse

Fans of Victoriana and Lewis Carroll can indulge themselves and benefit the Oakland Public Library as well.

Friends of the OPL are holding a silent auction during Alice in Wonderland Week, starting Sunday, May 20, at the organization's bookstore, The Bookmark, 721 Washington St. (off Broadway between Seventh and Eighth streets) in downtown Oakland. The store will also be selling Alice in Wonderland-related books and other items during the week.

Auction items, including an elaborate Victorian dollhouse and Alice in Wonderland figurines, are on display at the bookstore now. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Oakland Public Library serves Piedmont residents through an agreement between the cities.
