Local Cafe to Begin Weekend Dinner Service

The Piedmont Avenue restaurant will start serving dinner on Saturday and Sunday nights on May 19

, which opened on Piedmont Avenue last August, will begin serving dinner on Saturday and Sunday nights on May 19.

Happy hour specials will be available from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Reservations will be taken for parties of six or more.

The cafe is owned by Piedmont resident Megan Burke.

A news release describes the new offerings as "a relaxed, affordable and family-friendly dining experience while still appealing to a locavore’s palate."

Starters, available with wine and beer specials during happy hour from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., will include Garlic Herb Crostini with prosciutto, smashed chickpeas and frisée ($12); Local Slider Trio of beef brisket, pork meatballs and grilled seasonal vegetables ($11); Dry Rub Ribs with citrus-plum BBQ and Local Café slaw ($12); and Pork & Beef Meatballs, served with crostini and Local Café’s red sauce ($11).

Dinner service will Seasonal Greens ($8) and Local Cobb Salad ($12); Flat Iron Steak with grilled asparagus, celery root mash and balsamic drizzle ($16); a crispy Half Roasted Chicken with seasonal vegetables ($15); Baked Penne with Fontina and aged white cheddar cheese, topped with optional pork & beef meatballs ($11/$13); and Grilled Ham & Swiss Tartine with coarse mustard and pickled vegetables, served on Acme levain ($13).

Kid-friendly and side dishes will include Roasted Organic Chicken Breast, Farmer’s Market Veggies, Cheddar Brown Rice and Oven Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes with housemade hot sauce (all $6).

The restaurant, at 4395 Piedmont Ave., is currently open for breakfast, brunch and lunch Tuesday through Sunday. You may read more about its opening .
