Sprouts & Shutters: Pet Food Express Coming to Piedmont Ave.
The new store will occupy the site that formerly housed Blockbuster Video.
Pet Food Express is scheduled to open a new store Sept. 24 at 3868 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, according to the local pet supply company's website.
The store will occupy the site of a former Blockbuster Video outlet. An earlier proposal for a BevMo outlet at that location was derailed when neighborhood groups protested, saying they preferred locally owned, pedestrian-oriented businesses in the Piedmont Avenue shopping district.
The new Pet Food Express will include a do-it-yourself pet wash, the company's website says.
Pet food Express also operates stores nearby in Montclair, Rockridge and North Oakland.
