EBAC Auxiliary Installs New Board and Kicks Off Membership Drive

The EBAC Auxiliary is a group that raises funds in support of East Bay Agency for Children programs. The organization was founded in 1999 and continues to serve children and families in need.

The East Bay Agency for Children (“EBAC”) Auxiliary recently held a strategic planning session at Sequoyah Country Club to prepare for another successful year.

The Auxiliary raises funds each year primarily through its annual Masquerade Ball.  The 2012 Masquerade Ball, held in October and chaired by Marilyn Weber, was the Auxiliary’s most successful to date, raising nearly $67,000 for EBAC’s 13 programs. These programs include Circle of Care—Grief and Illness Support, Hawthorne Family Resource Center and the EBAC Probation Mental Health Services, as well as the Child Assault Prevention Training Center.  EBAC provides mental health services in more schools than any other Alameda County non-profit organization.  Last year, EBAC served 21,000 vulnerable and at-risk children and their family members in the greater East Bay Area through its primary prevention, early intervention and intensive treatment services.

The Auxiliary has installed the 2013 Auxiliary Board.  Serving this year are: Sandi Hutchinson, President; Tram Vo-Kumamoto, Vice President; Erica Bachman, Treasurer; Joanne Karchmer, Recording Secretary; Kimberly Campbell, Leila Kasrovi and Grace Landon, Masquerade Ball Co-Chairs; and Stacie Jesse, Membership Chair.

The EBAC Auxiliary has special plans for the 2013 Masquerade Ball, scheduled in October.  This year, the Ball will be EBAC’s primary fundraising event.  In addition, EBAC is planning an event to be held at the Wood Tavern Restaurant on College Avenue in Oakland. This is the sixth annual Wood Tavern/EBAC fundraising event, a festive occasion that was originally inspired by the creativity of Auxiliary member Debra Dryden and the generosity of Richard and Rebekah Wood, who own the Wood Tavern.

The Auxiliary is currently seeking new members. For more details about joining EBAC please contact Stacie Jesse at slbhair@sbcglobal.net or Tram Vo-Kumamoto at tvokumamoto@gmail.com.
