San Francisco Symphony Celebrates the Lunar New Year

The San Francisco Symphony kicked off the celebrations for its annual Lunar New Year Concert & Celebration on January 9 with a launch party at Committee Chair Mindy Sun’s home in Piedmont. Mrs. Sun—a Partner at Highland Partners Real Estate in Piedmont—and the Chinese New Year Committee members welcomed donors, volunteers, and ticket purchasers to a decadent evening of drinks and Asian hors d'oeuvres served by McCalls Catering. The home was decorated with sumptuous red table runners and gold snakes to mark the transition into this year’s zodiac sign. Members of the local Chinese musical ensemble Melody of China provided entertainment for the guests on traditional Asian instruments, and members of the Miss Chinatown Pageant Royal court mingled with the guests. Ms. Sun thanked all those in attendance for their support of the San Francisco Symphony’s education programs, and gave a special welcome to the event’s Presenting Partner, HSBC Premier.

The San Francisco Symphony’s Lunar New Year Concert takes place on Saturday, February 2, beginning at 3pm with a pre-concert festival in Davies Symphony Hall.

Tickets can be purchased at www.sfsymphony.org or 415-864-6000. Tickets for the elegant Imperial Dinner in City Hall after the concert are sold separately, and can be purchased by calling the SF Symphony Volunteer Council at 415-503-5500 or Debbi DiMaggio 510.414.6777.
