1. Poll: The Best Pizza Near Piedmont: With 112 votes so far, the winner is Arizmendi, with 31 votes. La Coco's captured 20 votes while Pizza Pazza captured 14 votes and won Dopo 13 votes. In the comments, readers also cast their vote for two eateries left out — Marzano and Zachary's.
2. Police Blotter: : Incidents reported to Piedmont Police Department July 18-July 25 included reports of several loud house parties and the arrest of Oakland woman on suspicion of driving under the influence after a two-vehicle collision on Crocker Avenue. A man also had his golf clubs stolen from his front yard, while a woman came home to find that her video game system and son's piggy bank had been stolen.
3. Great Shots Taken in Piedmont: In last week's Photo of the Week, Piedmont Patch featured a double dose of photo gold — a young girl determiningly riding her bike and the front yard of a York Drive home, decorated with more than two dozen pink flamingoes.
4. : This local eatery opened July 7 on the north end of Piedmont Avenue, the sister restaurant to popular sushi spot Geta. Business has been busy at the new spot, which serves traditional Japanese fare.
