Readmont 2014, Piedmont’s community reading project, now in its fourth year, has been officially launched.
All Piedmonters are encouraged to read Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi, a memoir of the author’s young life in Iran during the 1979 revolution, told in graphic novel (comic book-style) format.
The book was the basis for a French-American animated film released in 2007.
A limited number of copies will be available for checkout at each school library. Also, A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair is offering a 20 percent discount on this title.
Book discussions will be scheduled in early February.
The common reading experience is designed to forge positive connections among students, school staff, parents and community members as well as to encourage reading as a medium of collaboration. For more information, please contact Susan Stutzman, Piedmont High School librarian, at firstname.lastname@example.org or Beth Black, PHS English teacher, at email@example.com
