Police Investigate Mysterious Disappearance of Emil Mattson of Piedmont

OAKLAND, Dec. 28.—Sante Emil Mattson, a junior student in the college of chemistry at the University of California and a graduate of the Alameda high school, has disappeared, and the police of the bay cities have been asked to assist in the search for him. Mattson made his home with H. H. Howard, 100 Ronana avenue, Piedmont.

Bidding Mrs. Howard a "merry Christmas" last Tuesday evening, Mattson informed her that he had been invited to dinner at the home of friends, but would return early. The college student has not been seen since, despite the efforts of the police of Oakland, Berkeley and Alameda to find some trace of him.

Mattson was of regular habits and given to study. Friends are unable to explain his strange disappearance. He was 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 Inches in height, weighed 160 pounds, was of fair complexion, with light brown hair and blue eyes, and wore a dark blue suit of clothes when last seen.
