Piedmont Resident Robert Kruger Dies at 57

Mr. Kruger, a financial planner, river rafter and proud father, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.

Robert Blaine Kruger, a resident of Piedmont since 1997, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, after a valiant struggle with kidney cancer. He was 57.

Born on Feb. 23, 1957 in Chicago, he graduated from Highland Park High School in Illinois and earned a degree in Russian history and chemistry, graduating in 1979 from Cornell University.

He moved to the Bay Area in 1984 and could not imagine living anywhere else.  A financial planner with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Rob had many interests including river rafting, backpacking, saving the environment, coaching his boys in basketball and soccer, music by the Grateful Dead, and enjoying the East Bay views, and being a rabid fan of Bay Area sports teams.

He was especially proud of his two sons, Jeremy and Nathan. 

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Amy Kaminer, and two sons, Jeremy and Nathan. He is also survived by his mother, Sylvia Schneider, and brother Warren Kruger of Philadelphia. He will be greatly missed by all.
