Brush Fire Near Claremont and Grizzly Peak Contained

A morning brush fire in the Oakland hills was contained quickly, the Oakland Police Department reported in a bulletin Tuesday.

The fire was near the point where Claremont Avenue becomes Fish Ranch Road, the bulletin said. That would place it close to Grizzly Peak Boulevard.

Tweets by the Oakland Fire Department said the two-alarm blaze was a wildlands grass fire. A CalFire crew assisted, the tweets said.

Claremont Avenue between Alvarado Road and Grizzly Peak Boulevard was expected to remain closed throughout most of the day, with Oakland firefighters remaining on the scene, Oakland police said.
