Four Stolen Vehicles Recovered

Incidents reported to the Piedmont Police Department Aug. 15 – Aug. 22. Information was supplied by the police department and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, AUG. 15

Dogs Playing Without Tags – Police issued a warning to a resident with unlicensed dogs after they were reported at Linda Dog Park at 12:28 p.m.

Stolen Car Recovered – A two-door Acura was released to its owner after it was found at 8:08 p.m. on the 100 block of Olive Avenue.

TUESDAY, AUG. 16

Toaster Oven Catches Fire – Firefighters extinguished a toaster oven at a home on the 100 block of El Cerrito Avenue after it was reported to be on fire at 6:48 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 17

Hazardous Material At Pool Cleaned Up – Hazardous material at the Piedmont Community Pool was cleaned up after it was reported at 1:06 p.m.

Vehicle Burglarized – At 3:07 p.m., a vehicle break-in was reported on the 300 block of Wildwood Avenue.

THURSDAY, AUG. 18

Vehicle Recovered – A vehicle reported stolen was released to its owner after it was found at Bayo Vista Avenue and Harrison Street at 7:28 p.m.

FRIDAY, AUG. 19

Another Vehicle Recovered – At 12:02 a.m., a vehicle was recovered on the 100 block of Olive Avenue.

Sprinklers Cause Flooding – At 7:36 a.m., a woman from the 1100 block of Oakland Avenue reported that sprinklers from a nearby home were causing flooding at her property. The water was shut off and the homeowner with the sprinklers was notified of the problem.

Sinkhole Discovered – At 8:18 a.m., a caller reported a one-foot sinkhole on the 100 block of St. James Drive.

Bridge-Toll Pass Account Used Fraudulently – At 6:55 p.m., a man from the 1100 block of Winsor Avenue reported that someone was fraudulently using his bridge-toll pass account.

SATURDAY, AUG. 20

Disoriented Man In Street – At 8:12 a.m., it was reported that a man in a wheelchair was in the middle of the street at Wildwood and Highland avenues and looked lost and disoriented. Piedmont Police called Oakland police to check for any missing person reports.

Resident Approached for Diapers – At 6:22 p.m., a woman reported that she was approached by another woman asking for help to get diapers. The caller told the woman that she didn’t have any money and the woman asking for diapers walked away. The woman was described as a 35-year-old black woman with very short bleached hair and sunglasses on her head.

SUNDAY, AUG. 21

Bike Swiped from Yard – At 6:05 p.m., it was reported that a bike was taken from a yard on the 1600 block of Grand Avenue sometime over the weekend.

Fireworks Thrown At House – At 10:53 p.m., a caller reported that fireworks had been hurled at a home on the 100 block of Lake Avenue and seven kids were seen on foot towards Linda Avenue. At 11:20 p.m., it was reported that kids had come back to the area. Police made a pedestrian stop in front of Beach Elementary School, but were unable to locate the subjects.  

MONDAY, AUG. 22

Stolen Vehicle Found Quickly – Oakland police located a vehicle shortly after it was reported stolen on the first block of Lake Avenue at 7:11 a.m. The caller had told police that it had been stolen sometime after 10 p.m. the previous night.
