Man Arrested on Gun Possession Charge near Lakeshore Walgreens

Oakland police said a citizen's report led to the Monday afternoon arrest

Oakland Police Department officers on Monday arrested a man on suspicion of firearms possession near the store at 3250 Lakeshore Ave., according to an OPD report.

"On March 5, 2012, at approximately 5:10 p.m., OPD patrol officers were dispatched to Walgreens, 3250 Lakeshore, on a citizen's report of a man armed with a gun," says the OPD release.

"The citizen told OPD dispatchers that a man had entered and then exited Walgreens with what appeared to be a concealed firearm.

"OPD patrol officers arrived, located an individual who matched the provided description, and safely detained the suspect. Officers report that a search of the suspect revealed two concealed and loaded firearms.

"The suspect was arrested and transported to our Criminal Investigation Division for follow-up investigation.
