Police Action Closes Most Interstate 580 Lanes Near Seminary

Oakland police were on the scene to investigating a shooting but released no other details.

Bay City News -- Oakland police responded to a shooting that shut down most of Interstate Highway 580 near Seminary Avenue for three hours Saturday night, according to a police official.

The freeway was shut down while Oakland police investigated a shooting in the area of Seminary Avenue that was reported around 8:25 p.m., according to a police official.

The incident shut down all eastbound lanes and some westbound lanes initially, and kept a number of lanes in both directions closed for several hours.

The freeway reopened at 11:25 p.m., the CHP said. 

No further details on the shooting are available yet, the police official said.
