Police Blotter: Home Burglary, 3 Hit & Run Cases, Wallet & Camera Found

The Piedmont police log from noon July 1 through July 4 includes a residential burglary on Scenic Avenue, three hit and run cases reported in one day, three juveniles throwing ice on the Fourth of July and a bird stuck in a fence.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, July 1

Bird caught in fence – At 2:50 p.m., police received a report of a bird stuck in a fence on Trestle Glen Path. The request for police was then canceled. The bird was taken by ER to Montclair vet.

Man with guitar urinating in public – At 6:31 p.m., police received a report of man with a guitar urinating by the dumpsters at Mulberry's.

Tuesday, July 2

Lost wallet found, returned – At 9:51 a.m., police logged a report of a wallet with ID and miscellaneous cards found on the ground near the Veterans Memorial Building. The owner was located and the wallet returned with no loss.

Residential burglary – At 4:10 p.m., police received a report of a residential burglary in the 300 block of Scenic Avenue. A door was smashed open and the car was gone from the garage.

Wednesday, July 3

Drunkeness-related arrest – A log entry labeled "Drunks" at 1:10 a.m. recorded that one person on Oakland was arrested and taken to the North County Jail in Oakland.

Hit and run accident – At 6:39 a.m., police logged a hit and run accident on Moraga. Police attempted to contact the subject at the subject's house, but the subject was not home. A card was left with the subject's father.
Hit and run accident – At 3:55 p.m., a person reported a hit and run to his vehicle last week on Scenic.
Hit and run accident – At 4:32 p.m., a person told police she thinks a city street sweeper hit her vehicle on Manor today.

Thursday, July 4

Juveniles throwing ice – At 1:15 p.m., police logged a report of three juveniles throwing ice on Highland. Parents were advised.

Camera found – At 2:02 p.m., police logged a report of a digital Nikon D70 with a black case found on Highland.

Attempted attack by dogs – At 3:19 p.m., police received a complaint from a person on La Salle that two dogs tried to attack her. The house sitter let the dogs out and said they are not agressive.
