Police Blotter: Home Burglary, Weapons Arrest, Injured Hawk

Crime in Piedmont during Halloween week.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Oct. 28 through noon, Nov. 1. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, OCT. 28

Many traffic stops by officers.

TUESDAY, OCT. 29

Injured bird — A Sierra Avenue resident reported an injured hawk on her porch. An animal control officer took the bird for veterinary care.

Theft — Tools were reported stolen from inside a home on St. James Place.

Home burglary — Someone broke into a home on Moraga Avenue through a rear window between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Assault — A caller reported being attacked by her stepmother.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 30

Auto burglary — Someone broke into a locked vehicle parked near the corner of Greenbank and Grand avenues and stole loose change.

Hit and run — A caller reported a hit-and-run accident just after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Linda and Grand avenues by a woman driving a white sedan. Police were unable to locate the driver.

THURSDAY, OCT. 31

Weapons arrest — Police arrested a man on suspicion of possessing a stolen, loaded firearm after a traffic stop at Pleasant Valley and Piedmont avenues. See "Police Arrest Oakland Man for Possession of Stolen, Loaded Gun" for details.

FRIDAY, NOV. 1

Noise complaint — A caller reported a loud party on Linda Avenue about 12:50 a.m. The party was shut down after the host was contacted by police.
