Police Blotter: Man Robbed at Gunpoint, Seven Unlocked Vehicles Burglarized

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log, Nov. 28 – Dec. 5. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, NOV. 28

Bicycles burgled – Two bikes were reported stolen from an open garage in the back of a house on the 200 block of Pacific Avenue. The incident sometime within the previous 24 hours.

Man robbed at gunpoint – At 8:08 p.m. a Piedmont resident came into the Piedmont Police Department to report that he had been robbed by two male juveniles wearing dark clothing and wool ski masks who were armed with a silver revolver handgun. The incident occurred on the Oakland border near the intersection of Estates Drive and Somerset Road, he reported, and the robbers took headphones and a portable music player. Both robbers got into a dark-colored vehicle (partial license plate possible UP781)and drove toward Park Boulevard, according to the report. 

TUESDAY, NOV. 29

Two unlocked vehicles burgled – Sometime during the night a portable GPS and loose change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 200 block of Bonita Avenue. Another unlocked vehicle parked on the 1800 block of Oakland Avenue was rifled through sometime during the night but nothing was reported stolen.

Laptop stolen at Havens Elementary – A laptop computer was reported stolen from Havens Elementary School at 3:06 p.m.

Juveniles ring doorbell and run off – Two juveniles rang the doorbell of a house on the first block of Inverleith Terrace at 5:35 p.m., while a third juvenile wearing a hooded sweatshirt approached "with something covering his face," the report said. The youths then ran to a vehicle and drove off.

Bench stolen from yard – Sometime between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. a wrought iron bench was stolen from the front lawn of a house on the 100 block of Sunnyside Avenue.

Stolen vehicle recovered – A gray Honda, stolen in Oakland about 10 a.m., was found on the 600 block of Moraga Avenue at 8:52 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 30

Stereo stolen from unlocked vehicle – A stereo was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 100 block of Caperton Avenue sometime during the night.

House gets graffiti – A house on the 200 block of Estates Drive was vandalized with graffiti.

THURSDAY, DEC. 1

Garden hose stolen – Sometime in the past four days a garden hose and wooden hose holder were stolen from a residence on the 1800 block of Trestle Glen Road.

Three-car accident – Three cars were involved in a non-injury accident on Hampton Road at La Salle Avenue at 9:13 a.m.

Loose change stolen from car – Sometime during the night a vehicle parked on the first block of Prospect Road was rifled through and loose change was stolen.

FRIDAY, DEC. 2

Wind downs a tree – Public Works responded to a call at 12:35 a.m. about a fallen tree on Hampton Road at Lexford Road. The tree was removed.

Unlicensed driver arrested – On the 400 block of Linda Avenue at 2:29 p.m., police cited a driver on suspicion of driving without a license.

Purse stolen from car – A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Bonita Avenue at 3:31 p.m.

Jewelry stolen from home – Sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. a house on the 200 block of Bonita Avenue was broken into. Two downstairs doors and a back door were forced open with something like a crowbar and jewelry was stolen.

SATURDAY, DEC. 3

Dog attacks dog – At 12:35 p.m., Animal Control responded to a call about a dog without tags that attacked another dog in the dog-run area at Linda and Lake avenues. Both dogs had left the park when Animal Control arrived.

Tools stolen from car – Construction tools were stolen from a parked, unlocked vehicle on the first block of Cambridge Way at 12:46 p.m.

Trumpet stolen from vehicle – Sometime during the night, a trumpet was stolen from an unlocked car parked on the 300 block of Wildwood Avenue.

SUNDAY, DEC. 4

Home window broken – A front window of a house on the first block of Oakmont Avenue was broken sometime before 7:59 p.m. The resident believes it was an act of vandalism, police said.
