Police Blotter: More Burglary, Cars Damaged, Baby Birds Rescued

The Piedmont police blotter from noon of April 15 through April 18 includes one or possibly two new home burglaries, another vehicle hit by a BB, a motorcycle-vs.-hedge accident and a backpack and cell phone found at the police station.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter below were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, April 15

Residential burglary? – At 2:36 p.m., police received a 911 call from a resident of the first block of Olive Avenue saying she had just come home and found her front door ajar. It was unknown if anyone was still in the house.

Tuesday, April 16

Vandalism – At 8:58 a.m., a woman in the 100 block of Maxwelton Road reported a driver's side window broken.

Vehicle hit by BB – At 6:32 p.m., a resident in 300 block of Olive Avenue reported a vehicle hit by a BB gun at an unknown time.

Backpack, cell phone found – At 10:09 a.m., police logged a report of a "blue and black backpack with cell phone found in property room" at 403 Highland Ave. (Editor's note: 403 Highland is the address of the Police Department.)

Wednesday, April 17

Baby birds rescued – At 10:50 a.m., a resident of the 100 block of Somerset Road reported two baby birds on the ground. The birds were picked up and transported to the Montclair vet.

Home egged – At 12:56 a.m., a woman in the 500 block of Mountain Avenue reported that eggs were thrown at her residence.

Thursday, April 18

Motorcycle accident with injuries – A "motorcycle vs hedge" accident with unknown injuries was report at 10:29 a.m. at Crocker Avenue and Hampton Road.

Angry solicitors – At 5:02 p.m., a woman in the 400 block of Hillside Court reported that two men about age 25 came to her door saying they were university students seeking donations and seemed angry when she said she wasn't interested. An officer contacted the pair at El Cerrito and Magnolia and advised them of the PCO (Piedmont City Ordinance).

Residential burglary – At 8:50 p.m., a woman in the first block of Arroyo Avenue reported that the house had been burgled sometime in the past two weeks.

Non-injury accident – A non-injury accident in which the owner "bumped own vehicle" was reported at 10:51 p.m. on Raleigh Way.
