Police Blotter: Stolen Briefcase, Stolen Cars, Possible Gunshot

Police also responded to a number of false alarms from security systems and to several reports of dogs running loose.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Nov. 25 through noon, Nov. 29. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

TUESDAY, NOV. 26

Petty theft — A briefcase was stolen from a home on Magnolia Avenue about. 7:45 a.m.

Stolen cars — A Honda Civic was stolen from a driveway on Mesa Avenue sometime during the night, while a Honda Accord was stolen from Sunnyside Avenue during the previous two days.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27

Noise — Several people heard what sounded like a single gunshot in the general area of Nova Drive a little after 1 a.m., but police were not able to locate the source of the sound.

Auto recovery — Police located a stolen vehicle on Wildwood Avenue about 3 p.m.

Outside assist — Piedmont officers assisted the Oakland Police Department when a Jean Avenue resident reported hearing a woman yelling in the Oakland Rose Garden about 9:45 p.m. At least one person ran out of the garden when officers began to search.

FRIDAY, NOV. 29

Suspicious person — A caller reported a man looking in cars on Abbott Way near Maxwelton Road about 10 a.m., but the suspicious person was gone when police arrived.
