Police Blotter: Home Burglary, Stolen Cars, Water Balloons

The Piedmont Police Department log, Aug. 19-23.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Aug. 19 through noon, Aug. 23. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, AUG. 19

Auto recovery — a report of a car parked so that it was sticking out into traffic on Greenbank Avenue about 7:40 p.m. led police to a stolen vehicle. The green Acura had bee reported stolen in Oakland.

Domestic disturbance — Police separated the two people involved after neighbors reported lengthy shouting about 8:05 p.m.

Water balloon target — Someone threw several water balloons from a car at windows of a home near the corner of Estates Drive and Hampton Road about 10:30 p.m.

TUESDAY, AUG. 20

Whimpers and shuffles — A homeowner reported hearing odd noises and possible footsteps at 2:10 a.m., and said the family dogs were on alert. Police found a raccoon a several opossums in the backyard.

Auto recovery — Police located a stolen Ford van on Greenbank Avenue at 8:08 a.m. It had been reported stolen in Concord. The van was towed after police were unable to reach the registered owner.

My space — A Grand Avenue resident reported the driver of of a green truck as a possibly suspicious person after he took "her" parking space about 8:45 a.m. Police said the truck was legally parked.

Home burglary — A burglar took a large brown bag containing a case of jewelry from a home on Harvard Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. 

Stolen auto — A silver Honda civic was reported stolen from Grand Avenue sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 21

Identity theft — A Sandringham Road resident reported being the victim of identity theft.
