Suspect Arraigned in Fatal Wingstop Restaurant Shooting

The suspect in the fatal shooting of two Oakland restaurant employees late Monday night was arraigned today (Friday) on murder and weapons charges but did not enter a plea, according to prosecutors.
Jamaine Duane Gurley, 21, was charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of Richmond residents Kenneth Bradley, 22, and Jose Santa Maria, 26, according to prosecutors.
Bradley and Santa Maria were fatally shot at the Wingstop restaurant at 528 Lake Park Ave., Oakland, around 11:45 p.m. on Monday, according to police.
Police initially said the killings may have occurred during a robbery, but later concluded that was not the case based on surveillance footage and witness statements.
Gurley was taken into custody just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday in West Oakland after being identified through video evidence, police said.
He waived his rights and admitted shooting and killing the victims in an interview with investigators, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday.
In addition to the murder charges, Gurley faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded weapon that he was not legally allowed to possess.
Gurley is scheduled to return to court on Monday, according to prosecutors.
