Three Piedmont Teens Cited in BB Gun Shooting of Pedestrian

Man shot by teen received only minor injury

A man flagged down a Piedmont Police Department sergeant near Grand Avenue and Mandana Bouelvard just before midnight on Dec. 27 to report that he had just been shot with a pellet gun fired from a passing car, the PPD reports.

Sgt. Catherine Carr was able to locate and stop the vehicle, which was occupied by three boys, all Piedmont residents, a department spokesman said.

One of the boys blurted out, "We just shot an innocent man," according to the police report. A BB gun and a small amount of marijuana were found in the vehicle, police said.

The boys were cited on suspicion of marijuana possession and "discharging a BB device in a grossly negligent manner," both misdemeanors. Their parents were called to the scene.

The victim received a small welt on his right hip which did not require medical treatment, police said.
