Town Hall Thursday on Picking Police Chief

Piedmont residents are also urged to air other comments and questions about the workings of the Piedmont Police Department.

Piedmont residents are invited to a town hall meeting on Thursday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers, 120 Vista Ave., to solicit ideas from the public about the selection of a new police chief.

The meeting will be hosted by Mayor John Chiang and Vice Mayor Margaret Fujioka, as well as the recruiter hired by the city, Regan Williams of the firm Bob Murray & Associates.

Residents are invited to share their input about what characteristics, experience and professional background they would like to see in a new police chief.

A Monday night's Piedmont City council meeting, Fujioka also urged residents to comment at the town hall about other issues relating to the Piedmont Police Department.

Current Police Chief John Hunt is retiring after 25 years with the Piedmont Police Department. Friday, June, 21, is his last day on the job.

The city council Monday named PPD Capt. Scott Wyatt as interim chief until the position is filled permanently.
