Recent storms were unkind to the roofs at Wildwood and Beach Schools, and so Superintendent Constance Hubbard is asking the Piedmont Unified School District's board of education to authorize getting bids for emergency roof repairs.
"The unprecedented rainstorm in December 2012 resulted in the discovery of roof issues that make it imprudent to wait until the original schedule of summer of 2013 to have the 1990's era roofs replaced," Hubbard notes in the agenda for tonight's board meeting.
Also on the agenda:
—Presentation and acceptance of 2011-12 District Annual Financial Report (audit report). You can view the report on the district website here.
—The first of at least two public hearings on the development of the charge to the Citizens Oversight Committee on the school support tax (parcel tax) that will be submitted to voters in March. According to the agenda, "The community is invited to provide input as to the recommended purview of the Committee that will be designated to make a report directly to the Board prior to the levy of the School Support Tax starting in 2013-14."
The board will meet in public session at 7 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers, 120 Vista Ave. The complete agenda is attached.
