Elizabeth House Benefit to Feature State Supreme Court Justice Carol A. Corrigan

The benefit luncheon and auction will be held Thursday, April 26, at the Claremont County Club

On Thursday, April 26, Oakland Elizabeth House will host its biggest fundraiser of the year — the 21st Annual Benefit Luncheon and Auction at the Claremont Country Club, 5295 Broadway Terrace, Oakland from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The day will begin with a mid-morning reception, boutique, and silent auction, followed by lunch, a live auction and special guest speaker, The Honorable Carol A. Corrigan, associate justice of the California Supreme Court.

Tickets are $70 per person and online registration is available at oakehouse.org.

The event will raise funds to help house and support women and children in times of crisis. Oakland Elizabeth House, located in Rockridge, is a transitional residence for women and children who have experienced homelessness, violence, addiction or poverty.

It maintains a cooperative living environment where each woman (with her children) has her own room and works toward positive life choices to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Goals and benchmarks are set to track development of life skills essential for independent living.Families typically reside at Qakland Elizabeth House for 12 to 18 months.

Additional information is at oakehouse.org, where you can read success stories about program participants. Since 1991, more than 60 women have moved into permanent housing after leaving Elizabeth House, and 90 percent have successfully transitioned and maintained a quality of life modeled there.
