Police Blotter: Vandalism, Auto Accidents, Good Samaritan

The weekend police log.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Oct. 11 through noon, Oct. 14. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

SATURDAY, OCT. 12

Vandalism — Someone shot out windows of several vehicles. For details, see "BB Gun Vandal Shoots Out Windows of At Least 5 Vehicles."

Non-injury accident — Two sedans were towed after an accident on Moraga Avenue about 2:40 p.m., but no one was injured, police said.

Wallet returned — A local resident turned in a Gucci change purse found in a San Francisco department store over the weekend. The purse contained ID, bank cards and a small amount of cash, but no phone number for the owner. Piedmont police persisted and eventually reached the owner, who works at an East Bay hospital. She picked up the items in the evening.

No crime committed — A caller reported several teens sitting on a retaining wall near the corner of Oakland Avenue and Arbor Drive in the early evening. A patrol officer drove by and noted that the teenagers appeared to be waiting for a ride. The caller phoned again to ask why the teens weren't questioned and was informed that the youths were not committing any crime.

SUNDAY, OCT. 13

DUI — One person was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after running into a retaining wall on Estates Drive about 4:15 a.m.
